Ludo Dice and Token Rules

Ludo is a game that people of all age groups enjoy. Here are the basic rules for playing Ludo with dice and tokens:

  • Each player should choose a set of tokens in a different color.
  • Players should roll the dice to finalize the order of play, with the player who rolls the highest number going first.
  • A player rolls the dice on each turn to determine how many spaces their token can move. The player should then move their token clockwise on the board according to the dice roll.
  • A player must roll a six on the dice to activate the token.
  • If a player rolls six three times on the die, they miss the next turn.
  • If a player lands on a space occupied by an opponent’s token, they can “send back” that token to the start space. The opponent’s token is removed from the board and placed back in the start space.
  • Players get an extra chance to roll a 6.
  • When a player’s token reaches the final row of spaces leading to the home space, they can only move their token according to the exact number rolled on the dice. If the player does not roll the number needed to enter the home space, their turn ends, and they must wait until their next turn to try again.
  • The first player who gets all their tokens to the home space wins the game. The game is a tie if two or more players have the same number of tokens in the home space.

  • If a player rolls six sixes on dice three times, they miss the next chance.
  • Every player gets four tokens. Each token that reaches the home space fetches 56 points for the player.
  • Two players can cancel each other’s tokens if they land in the same box. When canceled, the token is sent back to the home. The points earned by the token before being canceled are cut.
  • The critical rule is that in the online game, the player need not roll out a six to activate the token. They can start playing it straight away.
